The path to Preferred Chef

Your roadmap to becoming a Preferred Chef

There's no shortcut and no application fee. Here's exactly how chefs go from new member to the first group we call when catering opportunities come in.

  1. Step 1

    Join the community

Start with a free membership or join BRDGE Circle. Come to events, meet other chefs and food businesses, and let us get to know you and what you make.

  2. Step 2

    Tell us about your business

Share your menu, your kitchen setup, your food safety certifications and the kinds of events you can handle. The more we know, the better we can match you.

  3. Step 3

    Take the reliability courses

Complete our short courses to prove you can deliver on time and to our standards. Take them up front and you'll move up faster.

  4. Step 4

    Take on smaller opportunities

When something fits, we'll reach out. Show up on time, communicate well, and deliver great food. Your first two deliveries set the tone for everything after.

  5. Step 5

    Build your track record

Reliability, quality and great feedback from clients add up. Chefs who consistently deliver move up the list for bigger and better opportunities.

  6. Step 6

    Earn Preferred Chef status

Preferred Chefs are the group we consider first when catering opportunities come through The BRDGE. It's earned, not bought — and it starts with showing up.

It's not just about the food

The chefs who move up fastest are the ones who show up, share and stay active. Marketing yourself and engaging with the community is part of the roadmap too.

Show up in the community

Come to Meet the Industry events and workshops. The chefs we know are the chefs we think of first.

Share what you're making

Post your dishes, behind-the-scenes content and day-in-the-life stories — and tag us. Active chefs get noticed by us and by clients.

Grow with us

Chefs who engage, share and help others in the community build the kind of reputation that turns into referrals and repeat work.

Common questions

Do I have to take the courses?

No — you can skip them if you feel ready. But if you're late or there are any issues on your first two deliveries, we'll charge a fee and require you to complete the courses before taking more work.

Do I have to pay to become a Preferred Chef?

No. Preferred Chef status is earned through your track record with us. Membership gives you more support and resources along the way, but it doesn't buy the status.

How long does it take?

It depends on how active you are and how opportunities line up with what you offer. Some chefs build a track record in a few months; for others it takes longer.

Does membership guarantee catering work?

No. Membership does not guarantee catering opportunities or Preferred Chef status. It gives you community, resources and support while you build.

Ready to start the journey?

Step one is simple: join the community and show up. We'll help with the rest.
